[sdiy] pedals & midi chords

I didn't keep any of the emails on this topic and I couldn't figure
out how to access any recent archive so am just sending a new thread.

I did a bass pedals project which could easily be adapted for any
switch array and sending bass chords would be an easy
modification. The code doesn't do this but it would be quite easy to
add. Downside is I used an expensive processor and you have to
solder your own hardware. Upside is the development environment is
free and there is working code written in basic. I don't have the
pcb design file posted but can make it available. The cost for three
quicks (3 days!) is $51 and the cad software is free. Link at

I also did an in-series MIDI processor which could also be easily
adapted to send chords based on specific MIDI keys. The downside is
the code is written in assembler and takes a bit more programming
savvy. The development environment is modestly priced with an
in-system programmer available for $30. The upside is the processor
used is dirt cheap. Total cost for all the components to do MIDI key
to chords would be $10-$15. The software is posted and
commented. This wouldn't take much soldering and I could post the
design files for the pcb I made. Link at

I'd be happy to consult or help or possibly even be talked into some
coding. It wouldn't be that difficult. I've even had similar
thought about those unused keys at either end of my 88 note keyboard.
