If you adjust two oscillators so they have a 1Hz beat at A=440 they
will have a 2Hz beat at A=880.
If you have linear detune, the frequency difference will be constant in
Hertz, not in 'ratio'
I never know what linear FM was for... otoh I only had one oscillator
back then :^(
