If you believe this to be an anomaly, you should contact John directly on
this - he is extremely helpful to his customers on troubleshooting issues.

One thing to check though beforehand - if the kit had more than one pot
value , double check to see if you may have accidentally put the wrong value
in the regen position.  Usually the case with feedback circuits, if the
resistance goes too low you're in for some abrupt effects.  There may also
be resistors flanking that pot that set it's range - check those values,
too.
