Hi all, another Yahoo user here who subbed last week and thought the list was quite, until I checked my webmail and told it sdiy is not spam!
I recognise some of the names from AH where I am also a listmember, recently I have become interested in building synths mainly from kits, such as Paia and Blacet, I am now going to the "next stage" (ie PCB only) of building one of Ray Wilsons excellent Soundlab Minisynths.
I started out modding gear about 8 years ago, just by pure experimetation (many Speak & Spells died at my hands!) I have only a very basic understanding of electronics, I know that electronics run on smoke and the importance of not letting it escape, I know what resistors, capacitors, diodes etc are, but my quest for more knowledge has pointed me here, I am very good at soldering and construction, its just all the "Math" and logic which defies me, so hopefully over the next few years I will learn how to read schematics, know what Base, Emitter and Collector actually mean and eventually have a stab at designing some of my own stuff.
So expect a few dumb newbie questions from me from time to time! In the meantime does anyone know any good www links that deal with basic electronic practices (that would be relevant to analogue synths) - FWIW every kit I have built to date has worked first time!
Thanks
FF
