I don't think the Dewanatron is meant to be successful, other than
for the users of the only one in existence. The copy accompanying
the pictures is pretty clearly a goof.
I saw this thing in action last year, and it was a flashback to my
first experiences with synths: seeing a bunch of strange looking
boxes on picnic tables, hearing a lot of sci-fi sounding bleeps and
bloops, and watching the operators (Brian Dewan and his brother Leon)
occasionally tracing wires between modules by hand and wiggling
alligator clips with embarassed looks on their faces.
