To change the direction a little.

Apparently publishers also think the music business is tough. I had an
editor enthuasitatic about a book I wrote on DIY modular effects. Their
marketing department said, its a music book, not general electronics, we
can't sell enough.
After seing the results of the world wide location survey, I think there
are maybe 200 buyers world wide for my book. It would be nice if I was
wrong, but I think we're in the IBM "the world will need only 8
computers" era. Even Analog days, which everyone knows should be a best
seller is ranked 153,757 (which isn't bad). Suzanne Sommers book is
ranked 281.

I would agree with him, analog parts are there. They are just getting
smaller and faster. Try finding RF parts, It used to be RF was 100-300
Mhz. RF nowadays is in the GHz range. I'm learning to work with SOICs
because soon that will be all that is left. After inventorying my parts,
however, I discovered I do have 32 3080s to play with. But no BBDs ;-(
