[sdiy] analyse software

Hi Fredrik

I use a program called "Electronic Workbench" (EWB pro 5.1)

It lets you draw schematics, then simulate with mixed signal
analysis (Digital logic simualtor and Spice analog simulator)

It lets you use 'virtual' instruments on screen - live. Most spice
programs don't do that.

Their current version is called Multisim and it goes from expensive to
very expensive. Even MORE expensive if you want the PCB layout tool
as well. They may have a limited student version, you might want to check.

I simulate most of the projects I build. Plan on spending a LOT of time
learning how to make a simulation run sucessfully... more to have it
mirror reality.

There are other 'spice' programs... some free even :^P

OrCad comes bundled with
a simulation program. I have not used it.

There is one called "Circuit Maker"... I tried it once (no opinions)

Another program has some modules called "Ares" "Isis" etc. I dl'd a demo and it
seemed pretty good. Google search should find that one. Cheaper than Multisim
by quite a bit
