One way to do this is use a cool little Philips PDIUSBD12 chip and connect 
to the uC of your choice + a DAC (8051, AVR, etc). Even easier perhaps are 
the AVR AT43USBxxx family of USB uC's that have a USB design software tool 
to help with the USB coding. It works.

TI also makes a TUSB3200A USB+8051 that is neat to use and could be utilized 
for USB-CV. I'm going the PDIUSBD12 route myself.
