[sdiy] "trigger to gate" or even better; pulse-to-CV

Hi.

Getting closer to converting my EWI into a CV controller - now the last
wished feature:

A bite controller (mouthpiece of Akai EWI) gives a positive pulse when I
clench my teeth and a negative pulse when I open them again. Now I'd love
for it to give a DC signal that increases when I clench and decreases when I
open...but how..? Clever set-up of S/H's? I have seen some gate-to-triggers
and even a scan of a scribble that supposedly was a trigger-to-gate, but it
wasn't easy to figure out up and down...

Anyone with ideas?
