GUys,
I found a fantastic product for cleaning rosin core flux from PCBAs which is
pretty easy to use and very easily disposable, even with California's rather
rigged environmental standards.
The chemical is called Aquanox and it's made by a company called Kyzen.
It's best used in a heated ultra sonic tank (Benson makes one, the model
B1510 which is the perfect size for small PCBs and sells for $355US), but I
had remarkable results by just heating the solution to 120 d F in a small
plastic vessel.
A 10 to 1 solution consisting of one part Aquanox, 9 parts water must be
heated to over 100 degrees F. You fully immerse the board for about 5 to 10
minutes, then a tap water rinse, followed by a DI or distilled water rinse
and my boards were completely stripped of all rosin and left the solder
joints looking like jewelry (...even MY solder joints). The solution can
be reused until it turns a dark color and then...it can go down the drain
without violating California's hazardous waste requirements.
You should check it out. Their site is www.kyzen.com
