[sdiy] absolute beginner - how to make a jack multiple

hello all,

i hope you can help me. i searched the archives but could not find the
info i was looking for.

i have decided in order to conserve panel space in my blacet modular, i
am going to attempt to turn all the frac rack front panel sides into 5
or 6 way multiples (depending on how much room there is - this will
leave more space in the frac racks themselves for more exciting
modules). that will mean i can have one multiple on either side of each
rack of modules - very handy, and not taking up any precious panel space.

my questions:

1) what size holes (i.e. drill bit) will i need to drill to mount the
mini-phone jacks? in metric please (i live in japan).

2) how does the multiple wiring work? do you just solder 1 wire to all
the tips, and another wire to all the sleeves? i have absolutely no idea
about how to go about this simple task, so if someone would please
enlighten me...

thanks very much in advance,

gregg janman.
