[sdiy] drum trigger box

Hello anyone:

How difficult would it be to create a box with rows of trigger switches for  
programming drum patterns, like a Simmons SDS-6 or the Kraftwerk 
"Triggersumme"  machines?  I suppose the gate outs could go to a variety of analog  
synthesizers, etc...
