I think that keeping the CA3080 around is more of an issue for maintenance
than new design. There is still the NJM13700 and the CA3280. For now. There
are getting to be alternatives in the transistor area. They don't have the
quality of matching as the more expensive transistor arrays but they maybe
very useful. Even though these would be beyond what more people can handle
(SOT-363 is real small).

for dual matched (hfe 10%) 2N5089 in a SOT-363. HAven't found these yet in
disti land so don't know how much these cost.
Diodes inc has:
DMMT3904W & DMMT3906W which are matched (hFE (DC current gain), Vbe(SAT),
and Vce(SAT) 2%) pairs in a SOT-363. These are about $0.50 at Digikey.
Last time I had some boards done I did a bunch of SOT-363 to 6 pin DIP
adapters. So there is yet another thing to do when the weather turns bad.
