I did not understand the LM3900 when it was introduced... now I see what a cool
idea
it is to have a Current Controlled Voltage Source (which in spice terms is
effectively what
it is).
Bob Pease (if you respect his opinion, I do :^) considers the LM3900 a "piece
of crap"
(had we not been in public I assume it might have been more colorful). There
was little
in the way of quality control or repeatability in the manufacture. Specs are
nothing to
brag about in any way.
I think the LM359 (iirc) is a dual Norton Amp which appears to be better... Bob
