I wasn't suggesting that analog ICs are made every 5 minutes, just that
they are produced on occaision. Besides, distributors tend to know only
about what is their current inventory. I was ordering my NRC13600 when
nobody had them in stock, as they were still being manufactured... I
had to do some phone work to find them.

The new National website is hideous! Sure enough, they do not offer
13600 (or 3080) currently, but they did earlier this year - years after
they "obseleted" them. I am guessing that some of the lesser volume ICs
are getting made on a moratorium basis every so often. Now we just need
to get them to make runs of the TO-5 versions.
