Yes, good point. Since percussion doesn't always need perfect tuning,
it's perfect for analog percussion. I think of Gnome-like devices as
being good for percussion, so I didn't think to differentiate -- but I
should have.
TH's 566 book has a chapter on swept noise ("A Tunable Noise
Generator"), which I imagine sounds something like what the Wiard
Noise Ring can do. It requires an external noise source and uses an FM
technique.

I don't have a 566 running -- that is somewhere down my project list--
but the book didn't suggest that a larger timing cap would help (or I
missed where it says that). If so, that'd be awesome. I'll certainly
try it when I finally power one up.
