I should add that what you're after is detecting the so called "framing 
error". That is when you receive bits that aren't properly framed with 
the start and stop bits.

But still when you start to listen in the middle of a byte, you can have 
the case that the parity bit is fine and also the stop bit gets detected 
fine. In that case you read only garbage.
