Hehe. The basic four function calculator came out when I was in college,
complete with red LED display. I wasn't the first to buy one, but I remember
the priced dropped hugely in only a few months.

Bunch of light weigths.

I have 2 slide rules, HP11, HP16, HP32S and I still haven't had to change
the batteries in my slide rules.

BUT BE CAREFUL!

RPN rocks but it will probably go the way of the dinosaur. Even the hand
held calculator will probably be gone shortly. They will be replaced by all
the calculators in cell phones, PDAs and on the computer desk top.

The hand held scientific calculator (HP35) came out when I was in college.
They were banded from some classes because they gave the people with $400
advantage over us stuck using our slide rules.

Logs, logs, logs just can't get away from them.
