A while back, I was frequently getting duplicate messages from this
email list, and I believe that there were others with the same
situation. It cleared up for awhile, but it has now returned over the
past few days.
Anyone else receiving duplicate messages? This is the only list on which
it happens for me. >>
Yes. I'm getting those duplicates, too. I have also noticed that certain
messages are not getting through, as well. Typically, it will be the first
message in a thread. For instance, for the current SDIY thread titled "an XOR
question", the initial message (apparently from schierld at msoe.edu) did not ever
come through, but at least eight follow-up replies to his post did come
through. The fact that there are follow-up messages to an initial post that I never
got indicates that it's not happening to everyone on the list, but just to a
few of us unlucky ones. This missing messages thing has happened in the past
two years at a couple of different times, and then it cleared itself up after a
while. I'll admit that I'm more concerned with the missing messages than
with the duplicates, but since they're both happening right now, one can't help
but suspect that they are somehow related to the same bug or problem. I
wonder if there's anything we can to remedy this on our own? Rick Jansen, the list
operator, doesn't really monitor the list much, and it may be a while before
he gets around to dealing with it.
