Fw: [sdiy] simple audio mixer for single rail power source?

Somebody wrote to me off-list -- maybe he didn't want to embarass
me -- but here it is in slightly edited form to protect the identity
of the innocent. (Innocent? Hah! ;-)

<sort of quote> These power amps are good for headphones or small
speakers -- i.e. where you need to drive 8 ohms or so. However, their
fidelity [is poor] and they have a nasty tendency to "do AM" (see the
data sheet). I'd avoid these for a mixer. </sort of quote>

Of course he is correct. My counterpoint was that if this were a
critical application, there wouldn't have been such restrictions on
the power supply.

In any case, it looks as though a passive mixer may do the trick.

P.S. Don't be afraid to correct me on the list, folks. There's no ego
problem here because I *know* that I'm a DIY novice. I tend to post
too much, too quickly, but I don't mind playing the fool. (And I'm
good at that, right? Heh...)
