i think its something to do with if someone clicks 'reply all' to a thread that youve posted on, your address is still in the
headders of the later emails of the thread, so you get a mail from the person direct, and then one form the list.  probably
different with differrent mail software too, i suppose

can get confusing when lots of people are posing to a thread.

i think its somthing like this anyway.
