Have a look at the analog switch matrix schematic on my web site

I have used 4066, wired in such a way as they take positive and negative
voltage swings.

Don't bother trying to run 4066 on 18V. As mentioned, it's the max. limit.
Just above this, they tend to physically explode! (been there done that -
overrevved the "12" volt generator, and all the CMOS hanging off it went *bang*)
