Battery duallies:
TL062/LF442/LM358 are common and good for battery op stuff.
OP281's are real misers at a quiescent current of less than 5uA per amplifier - bandwidth stinks, but ok for audio.
OP213's, OP284's - not quite as battery freindly, but good AC/DC specs and single supply operation.

There's quite alot of low power stuff out there nowadays - too much to keep track of - check out Analog Devices, TI, National and others.

what's your favorite audio/AC (pre)amplifier for powering from one or two
9V batteries ? let's stick with duals, where applicable, for easy part
number listings.

so far i like:

OP2132
OP176 (a sub for the 5532)
