[sdiy] solder questions

Thanks for all the helpful replies. It's good to see that I'm not the
only one on the list who solders "old school" with the Kester 44 (well,
I think in the REALLY old days it was 60/40, now 63/37).

Is it generally accepted that the newfangled no-clean and other
reformulated solders basically don't "wet" the connection as well as
old-fashioned rosin-core solder? I've heard that before but never had
a chance to put it to the test. I imagine the organic-core stuff
(organic acid?) does a pretty good job of wetting the connection, what
with the high temperatures and low pH. But I'm almost never doing
exclusively PC work, so I'm not really in the market for the
organic-core stuff right now.
