Just thought I'd mention this nifty page of info by our own Harry Bissell

It's a well written guide to capacitor construction, the various types of
capacitors, and recommendations for the best use of each type (e.g. Critical
timing and tuning = Polystyrene Film. Power decoupling = Tantalum or
Electrolytic in series with a small ceramic. Audio coupling = Film, or
Electrolytic for low impedance circuits). Anyway, I found this info VERY
useful, and the topic of caps and which type to use seems to come up now and
again, so I thought I'd pass this along. Funny though, it doesn't mention
what type of cap to use in BBD noise filter circuits...
