Hi, I'm not an expert on DVD burning, although I know Macs pretty well.

Strictly speaking, the system cannot mount a drive. It mounts 'volumes' 
which are usually discs. No disc, no icon. When you eject a volume, the 
disc comes out, not (hopefully) the drive!

If DVD Studio Pro can save a disc image (and I think it can), can you 
then burn the image using Toast?

As above - these are volumes not drives (well, except the mouse, but 
that doesn't get 'mounted' at all).
