Well, I doubt that s-DIYers will make any kind of dent in SSM's bottom 
line...

I've heard that Mackie's digital boards are chock full of SSM VCAs (as 
is their automation system for analog boards IIRC), not to mention lots 
of other companies' products.  So SSM probably has a captive market for 
years to come.  What SSM does is pretty frustrating, though, especially 
if you're a DIYer.  And until recently, their stuff wasn't easy to get, 
except maybe as samples.  (I know Digi-Key started carrying a lot more 
of the esoteric AD/SSM stuff this year).
