Yep. Once romplers appeared people got their dream of Any Instrument in a 
Box. Something that FM had promised but couldn't deliver unless you had 
God-like programming skills.

Analogue hardware was never much use for most kinds of imitative synthesis. 
It turns out that what most people want from a synth is imitative 
synthesis, and analogue and other kinds of programming are a footnote.

I have to admit I'm not convinced by the Buchla scheme. It's a nice little 
hobby and has 'cult' all over it, but adding patch memories to what's 
really still a standard analogue design isn't outstandingly innovative. And 
those prices are *seriously* expensive for what the modules actually do.

But then cult is what his customers are going to want, and I'm sure he'll 
do okay with them.
