Yah, that's true -- I was overstating the case, because I've seen some 
novice attempts that
1) used no compound at all
2) used NO heatsinks, or pitifully inadequate ones.
Our old friends the three-terminal regulators won't even perform up to HALF 
their rated ability without adquate heatsinking -- I guess that's what I 
was trying to remind the first-timers.
