This reminds me of some very funny conversations I had a few years ago
with some people at Analog Devices! I asked them whether or not they
acquired all of the properties of Precision Monolithics way back when
that purchase happened. They said "yes", they bought everything. So
next I mention that if they acquired everything, that that would
include the SSM2040 - they'd likely have masks for it somewhere! The
folks I was talking with sounded weird... they said "but we never
produced any of those ICs, that was PMI". So I say "if you bought all
of what was PMI, then that would include even PMI properties which ADI
never produced, yes? Such as perhaps the SSM2040". This got me lots of
"hmmm...." I figure that ADI does own the 2040 technology, but whether
or not they have any idea about masks might be another matter. Still,
others there might be more knowledgable about this.
