[sdiy] Intro and basic IC compatibility question

Hello everyone,
It is nice to meet you and I'm grateful for all the advice.  It turns out 
that I have several list members in my town and one of them may be helping 
me to a compatible HC series chip.  Thanks very much for your replies.
