[sdiy] ground distribution

Hi,

I am designing a new power supply for some modules, and had a question about
something I've only heard a bit about.

It seems I need totally seperate power ground return and signal ground.  I
don't know if I'm using the correct terms here.  Aren't these essentially
the same thing, I mean once they hit the power supply, don't they go to the
same place?  This is the main thing that I don't quite understand in
relation to modular power supplies.
