Still, I'm disappointed that there isn't more interest in microcontrolled
and DSP based synth DIY. The perception that it *has* to be analogue, and

Hybrid systems would be interesting, analog sound with
digital control.
Do PC expansion boards (ISA) with -say- 16 Channels of 14bit or 16bit resolution
exist for a reasonable price? MIDI is not really able to do this.
That would replace a lot of control modules with something much more
flexible.
Control contoures could be learned and played back, or drawn.
That would make more flexible sound, although it would be too complicated
for the usual user and usual usage of electronic sound generation.
