[at first to too aghast for words, unable to imagine anyone not having
used, or at least seen, those maginficent classics of classics,
examples of engineering excellence, and standards by which all other
oscilloscopes must be judged: the mighty Tektronix 500 series
oscilloscopes, which also help to keep one's lab warmer in the winter]

A couple of examples come to mind: the Tektronix 500 series scopes
with the screw-on connectors (the connector type escapes me at the
moment) and my 1950's Heathkit 'scope with banana/binding post
connectors.
