This system can be confusing as the on-on-on is really just a SPDT
switch with a middle position that basically is not connected
electrically to either of the two side pins.

This can be useful with some external logic, like a pull up resistor on
the center pin followed by some diode logic or basic CMOS gates.

If you want a "real" three position switch, try to find a SP3T. These
are easier to locate in slide switches.
