You know, I've had a similar problem with cheap toggles, probably also from
Jameco. For me, it was that soldering time had to be carefully monitored
else things inside the switch seemed to melt. I had some switches simply
refuse to move after soldering wires to their lugs. Lesson learned. Cheap
mechanical parts are no bargain if they will ultimately force you to open
the project and replace them - with the good ones...
