thanks guys, for the info.
unfortunately when i re-connect the various bits and pieces of the ds-55, it
freezes now. weird, because all i did was take off the connectors for
display and button panel and wheel assembly..when i put it back and switched
it on, all lights come and and the display goes black. anyone know of a
diagnostic mode? probably not, since this is a rather obscure beast.
i thought maybe the metal boxes around all boards needed to be put back (i
dunno, for gnd or something..) but even that makes no difference...
