There are *lots and lots* of parallel-interface ADCs (12 to 14 bit)
from Maxim. For DACs, only 12 or 14 bit ones are available with
parallel interfaces. I've just received a pair of samples of the
12-bit 8-channel MAX197, BTW. And yes, available in DIP!!
(And no, haven't had any time to play with it yet....)
