Hi everyone,

Sorry for the "how do I fix it" question, but since ensoniq's death,
repair of their keyboards has become a DIY task.

If anyone has experience with the SCSI interface of an EPS, please read
on:

I have an original EPS with a 4x expander, the ensoniq scsi interface,
O.S. 2.49, and ROM version 2.40. I'm trying to connect a MASS
microsystems syquest 44MB SCSI cartridge drive to it and am using an
external terminator plug. I have been using info from the Chicken
Systems website as my only resource.

The sampler doesn't seem to recognize the device. When I try to access
or format the SCSI drive it tells me "invalid scsi device" or "SCSI
device not connected". I'm not using SCSI ID#3, and I have a couple of
different cables just in case one is bad. One curious thing is that
when the sampler boots up it displays "SCSI INSTALLED", but it doesn't
follow it up with "SEARCHING FOR SCSI DEV" as it is supposed to do.
Also, the drive's access light never blinks in response to
a "negotiation phase" between the sampler and the drive.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I have very little
experience with SCSI drives.

Thanks,
Richard Moore
