Its just my standard practice, to ask if the plug is really in the wall 
first. :-) If you can make it to Dortmund next weekend, I can tell you 
the story about it.

And CMOS can really fool you, you can have sort of working circuits 
without V+ connected. The power enters from another part of the circuit 
by internal protection diodes. (Here there is no chance for that 
though.) And you read that on the V+ terminal...
