It's my understanding that contact with the metallic
element itself doesn't do much harm; it's the salts of lead
that you have to watch out for.  (If bare lead were hazardous,
people that do stained glass would never live past 30.)
As long as you don't lick your fingers while you solder,
you're probably OK.
