Yes, but when you have the mike on a stand pointing downwards into your
troat or holding it definitly pointing downwards, the spatial null in the
cardioids is now not at all in the direction of the monitors, it's up in the
cieling! Also, you missed the point that THIS usage is more a scenic
performance act and not as much audio-usage.
Lipping the mike is not a problem and has many good reasons. Just the improved
signal (voice) to feedback (monitor) acheived is great, it was more the
angle of the mike into the mouth when lipping it which was what I was refering
to. When your SM58Beta's has got a red grill after a gig you know that the
choir-ladies and female vocalists have been lipping their mikes - really!
When the male vocalist have given the same result you know that it was Marilyn
Manson this evening. It's (almost) that easy.
Besides, if you had seen "The Cramps" alive you wouln't miss my point at all.
That was another SM58 gone to mike-heaven. There deep-throat was as true as
ever! (No, I didn't pay to go to that concert, I was there as part of work)
