If you go that route, there is a Spice program called Opus (current 
versions is 2.21 I think), again available for both Windows and Linux - 
and there's a script (.ulp) for EAGLE so that an EAGLE schematic can be 
more or less directly simulated. It's some work to do on the libraries 
as the names in EAGLE and Spice have to match. I haven't tried it on a 
complex circuit yet, but for very simple things it works quite well.
