That sounds like an interesting idea. It might be especially cool for an
electronic drum.
What about shielding? Line the inside with aluminum foil? Copper foil would
be nicer, but it's harder to find, and more expensive. Transparent aluminum
pipe would be super, but Scotty isn't here to reveal the formula for it. :)
For circuitry that can live without shielding, you could also use a section
of transparent Plexiglass pipe. You could glue the section of pipe to a
circular disc of Plexiglass, to cap one end very neatly. The other end
would need to be fastened in a way to allow access to the internal
circuitry, for repairs, battery changes, whatever. This "other end" might
also be a metal "control panel" that held controls, displays, etc. It
should look pretty cool, but I don't know how expensive the Plexiglass
would be.
