Then, they are short-sighted bean counters. What about the credibility of
the company, its possible stock value, and the prospect for future sales,
once word gets out about all the technical flaws they ignored? Their lust
for short-term profits might well do more financial harm than good in the
long run. 

I would think the more intelligent bean counters would also be concerned
about not producing a "lemon" which harmed the reputation of the company,
and cost them many future sales. Unfortunately, my personal experience with
sales and financial people gives me the idea that there aren't many such
"intelligent bean counters" in existence.  :(
