I remember Mr. Barr was sooooo proud of his idea to
print the resistive material right onto the PCB. It
was going to be so inexpensive to manufacture, this
being his only concern. Fidelity, longevity, making
the user wince whenever a fader moved ... these things
were unimportant. 

Myself, I like the old Tascam mixers. Okay faders,
pretty good connections in the back. Not bad for the
price.
