Yamaha Kemble the distributor in the UK are very helpful in respect to
supplying service manual and their service department can be a useful
source of info too. I have never been asked whether I am a bona fide
service company ever. Roland UK are the same too.
I would think that it is not Yamaha's company policy to deny schematics
to all who ask, but the local distributor. As it costs a company
considerably more money to supply a full service book than most people
want to fork out, it is no suprise that many distributors do not supply
schematics to all and sundry.
Yamaha Japan have made a great many of their service documents as
downloadable PDFs for those in the service industry. It is daft to
expect Yamaha to pay someone to take the months needed to make every
schematic into a PDF. But they are doing it, and for that I have to
salute them. Only time will tell if we get all the schematics needed for
the old classics.
AFAIK Yamaha do not have a true authorised system of repair technicians
in the UK. Most of it is carried out by technicians who work for dealers
of Yamaha stuff, or in the rare case, dealers that have their own techs.
