[sdiy] Those darned Yamaha chips!

Usually, with today's blessings of the web, Google and such, it's not 
very hard to find information on IC's, Even about unusual items like 
Roland IR series, Korg chips, whatever.
But to my astonishment, there is almost zero info on the extensive 
range of Yamaha IC's, like the IG-, YM- or IT series. And believe me, 
I've tried more than once. For hours.
Does anybody here know where to find information on them, like 
functionality, availability and (even old) prices?
Help would very much be appreciated, 'cause I've ran out of options.
