I just pulled apart of one my HeNes to see if I could make the scanning 
more interesting.

I sent if off for repair a couple of months after I got it after one of the 
tubes died and it was still under warranty. It seemed to be working ok when 
it came back, but I've just discovered that the voltage multiplier board, 
which outputs a few kV of drive voltage, *was left unscrewed* by the repair 
tech, and was flapping around loose.

The only thing stopping a short to the case was the body of one of the 
resistors and a few mm of air.

Yikes.
