I'm aware of a couple of audio illusions. I know that you can "fake"
the presence of a low fundamental by playing the "would-be" upper
harmonics. Buchla makes an infinte phase shifter that does the barber
pole effect with phase instead of pitch, but I'm not sure how it's
done. I guess this next one isn't an illusion, but I like the noise I
get when I sample a high pitched sound on my EPS and then I increase
the pitch by several octaves. I can then sweep the pitch and get all
sorts of bizarre aliasing pitches that don't seem to have an audible
relationship to each other (convolution can be fun!).
